The first Legends Cars were unveiled at Lowe's Motor Speedway in April of 1992.The idea of starting the Legends Cars was to create a fun and affordable clas of racing. The President H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler and General Manager Elliot Forbes-Robinson of Lowes Motor Speedway designed the Legends Cars. The cars were designed to be 5/8 scale fiberglass full-fendered verions of the NASCAR modifieds driven by guys like Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, Curtis Turner, Speedy Thompson, and Banjo Mathews. Since then Legends Cars have become one of the fastest growing types of racing today. Drivers are classified into 4 different divisions. The Legends Cars are an opportunity for everyone. The Pro Division is for expirenced. The Masters division is for drivers age 40 and up. The Semi-Pro division is the rookie class, featuring the drivers that are new to the sport or have been non active in racing for awhile. Last is the Young Lions, this division is for the drivers between the ages of 12 and 16. The cars always stay the same in division to division so its the driver that makes a difference not the car! |
